Google My Business is now Google Business Profiles
Google have recently announced that they’re rebranding their Google Business Listings to Google Business Profiles, along with a host of other changes to the look of the profile and how it can be used.
The intent of these changes are to make it easier for business owners to claim and manage their listings.
So what has changed?
The biggest change is that single listings can now be managed directly from Google Search and Google Maps. Now, this may feel familiar, as Google listings have always had the ‘suggest an edit’ feature on the front end, but all of the major content updates needed to be made from the dashboard.
This means you’ll be able to type your business name into Google search and then if you’re logged into the Google account that has access, you’ll be presented with a control panel that will display several options for you to choose from.

This includes
- Adding posts and updates
- Adding images
- Updating the business information, such as opening hours and services
In future, Google Business Profiles can even be created from this front-end view as well, which will make it simple for customers to add their business to the platform.
What are the benefits of the rebrand and new layout?
Ideally, these changes will make it simpler for customers to update and use their Google Business Profile. By allowing for these direct updates, people can quickly and easily make their changes without having to go around to the dashboard, which could at times cause confusion.
The new interface gives business owners the opportunity to manage their listings in the simplest way possible.
It’s important to note that the functionality of Google Business Profiles hasn’t changed too much – all of the same fields and sections are still there, just accessed in a new way.
