About Arborsafe Tree Services
Arborsafe Tree Services is a newly branded arborist company servicing the Gold Coast and South Brisbane. Previously known as Big Jim’s Trees, their business thrived on word-of-mouth, but their new brand had zero online presence. The challenge was not only to grow their digital visibility from scratch but also to transition loyal customers to the new brand without losing trust or search traction.
Client Goals & Challenges
Digital Surfer was brought in with a clear directive: drive results through a targeted Local SEO and Google Ads campaign. We set out to:
- Increase organic traffic from 0 to 50+ sessions per month
- Redirect and retain Big Jim’s Trees customers under the Arborsafe name
- Generate 15 quality leads per month (10 calls and 5 forms)
All of this needed to be achieved in a highly competitive local market.
The Challenges
Arborsafe was launching into a saturated market with a brand-new domain and no existing SEO authority. Competing against long established local tree service providers on the Gold Coast was going to take more than a generic SEO approach.
We also had to bridge the brand gap between Big Jim’s and Arborsafe ensuring loyal customers could find them online and trust the rebranded business. This involved complex redirect mapping, brand continuity messaging, and search engine migration.
On top of that, we needed to act fast. Storm season was approaching, and Arborsafe needed emergency related service visibility quickly to capture urgent leads.

We combined hyper-targeted local SEO with a multi tiered Google Ads strategy, supported by smart UX tactics and citation optimisation. Our focus was not only on increasing visibility but ensuring leads were high-intent and geographically relevant.
Key tactics included:
Subfolder Location Strategy:
Built suburb specific pages under /local/ with tailored content, FAQs, embedded Google Maps, and internal linking to core services. This supported local SEO rankings and enhanced UX.
Species-Specific Pages:
Created pages like “Mango Tree Removal” and “Gum Tree Removal” to rank for under targeted yet high conversion terms, capturing unique SERP positions.
Branded Search Preservation:
Implemented 301 redirects from Big Jim’s Trees website, created a transition page, and optimised for “Big Jim’s” branded keywords. A pop up also explained the rebrand to reassure returning users.
Google Ads Execution:
Deployed hyper local search ads with suburb based targeting and keyword match types tuned for high conversion terms. Launched an emergency focused call-only campaign for after hours tree removal.
Google Business Profile Optimisation:
Monthly GBP posting, citation building, and strategic review generation (via QR codes and SMS scripts) helped fast track local trust and map visibility.
