Earlier this year I asked Kerry and Richard at Digital Surfer to build a website for my Brisbane Business. Kerry and Richard worked hard with me to customise a website that would fit my businesses needs. Since the website went active I have achieved all my sales goals. Work opportunities have doubled. I have had to take on extra staff to fulfill orders. So a big thank you to Kerry and the team at Digital Surfer.
Where did we start?
This client’s goals were to get more customers for printer sales and repair. Additionally, the client was doing a lot of contract work for other printer companies that were getting the leads (and taking a cut of the fee), so there was a desire to gain enough work that the client was no longer contracted.
At the beginning of the campaign, the client had a basic website (that had been a passion project with a family member). It needed updating, but the client was initially hesitant to make changes.
What was our Local SEO strategy?
The campaign started by making some updates to the website. The first step was to move some elements on the home page so that the main services, contact details and call to action were visible above the fold (or without the need to scroll). Additional optimised content was also added to the home page, as well as the sales and repairs page, to tell both customers and Google what it is that this client does. The client also wanted a new rentals page, as he was beginning to offer this service, however there were some delays in getting the content and making this page live.
Once the optimised content was on the site, the Google Business Listing could start to be leveraged. Each section was filled out to target the specific keywords that would get this client the customers they were looking for, and a plan of coordinated posts was created to ensure that the listing was continually being updated.
In month five of the campaign, it was decided to refresh the keywords for the campaign, removing “printer rental Brisbane”, which had not performed well with the lack of content, and replace it with “photocopier prices Brisbane” which debuted in the number one ranking spot.
Where is this client now?
Over the last two years of this campaign, this client has seen some amazing results. Currently, all of the keywords being tracked in this campaign are being featured at positions one, two, or three, which means this client appears in the maps pack for a variety of searches.
In fact, during the early 2020 COVID shutdowns, this client had considered stopping their marketing, however reconsidered after a conversation about their progress and the realisation that “[the campaign] is the only thing that gets me any results, why would I stop this?”. When discussing the results of the campaign, the client also mentioned that they were no longer doing contracted work for others, and in fact had been looking at contracting some of their work out as at times they had more than they could handle.
The client has also just had their website redesigned to better promote their services and better allow customers to find the range of printers that they sell, lease and repair.
Additionally, the client has seen an increase in actions taken (such as calls or clicks to the website) through their Google Business Listing. For example, when the campaign began in March 2018 the client was seeing 13 clicks to the website a month, whereas in June 2020 the client saw 64 clicks to the website. Similarly, in the beginning of the campaign the client saw only one call in March 2018, but got 14 in June 2020. This is a great result for this client.
This client saw some great improvements throughout 2020. As well as launching a new website design, this client saw an improvement in the actions taken on their Google Business Listing. In January 2020, this client saw 27 customers click onto the website, and 10 customers call them. In January 2021, the number of customers clicking through to the website has improved to 63 in a month, and the number of calls has remained steady at ten throughout the month.
Update April 2023: since the website was rebuilt in 2020, this client has seen a constant improvement in website traffic – the website traffic in 2021 was averaging 223 sessions per month, in 2022 this has lifted to 266 per month and so far in 2023 we are averaging 301 per month. As well as this, interactions on the Google Business Profile have also increased steadily – with clicks to the website increasing from 42 in April 2021 to 60 in March 2023.
The client has also said when discussing his business that “I don’t have to think about it, [he just] leaves it up to us to do a good job for him. All his business comes from us”.
