Where did we start?
The original website this client had was outdated, clunky and hard to use. It was originally built by a company that then went out of business, so there was no conflict when rebuilding the site. We started working on the site in December 2019, and were able to have it go live in early 2020 to the specifications of the customer.
What was our strategy?
The goal of the redesign was primarily to update the look of the website and to improve functionality and user experience. As such, most of the content from the original website was left as-is. The only major content changes to the website were the five location pages that were added so that if someone were searching for a specific suburb, this business would turn up in that search.
The main requirement from the client was to keep the red colouring on the website to stay consistent with their branding. This included the red click-to-call and ‘write a review’ buttons in the header. Outside of these, the aim was to give the website a fresh look what was in line with what others in the local area and in this industry were presenting, in order to gain an edge on the competition.
Other improvements made on the site include making it responsive on mobile devices, as the original website was not, and this was harming the overall effectiveness of the website. Some SEO aspects of the website were also completed, such as using the correct header type and completed meta information, to ensure the website has the best chance of returning in a search.
Where is this client now?
This clients original website loaded in a total of thirteen seconds. After it was rebuilt, the website is loading in as fast as three seconds, even though there are more pages, more content, and more images.
The client also had five Google reviews previously and is at the time of writing, sitting at eleven – due in part to the ‘write a review’ link displayed prominently in the header menu. These links are also displayed on the testimonials page, which can easily be navigated to from the header menu.
From this increase in reviews, we can also surmise that the client has had an increase in booked jobs since the website was redesigned.
