Where did we start?
The original website this client had was outdated, clunky and had almost no content on it. We started working on the build in March 2021, and were able to have it go live in late April to the specifications of the customer.
What was our strategy?
The goal of the redesign was primarily to update the look of the website and to improve functionality and user experience. We also needed to create five pages of content for the new website – as part of this, we conducted a high level keyword research to find the best terms that customers were suing to fid this particular service. As part of that, we found that ‘handyman’ was a quite highly-searched term, even though the client preferred the term ‘property maintenance’. We were able to include both terms on the website to ensure the client would get found by all potential customers.
The aim for the website design was to give the website a fresh look with what is in line with what others in the local area and in this industry are presenting, in order to gain an edge on the competition. It was also important to include images from the client that demonstrated the range and quality of their work.
Other improvements made on the site include making it responsive on mobile devices, as the original website was not, and this was harming the overall effectiveness of the website. Some SEO aspects of the website were also completed, such as using the correct header type and completed meta information, to ensure the website has the best chance of returning in a search.

Where is this client now?
After it was rebuilt, the website is loading in as fast as three seconds, even though there is more pages, more content, and more images. This is a great result for this client.
Additionally, we have seen traffic and engagement increase on the website over the last few months, which is great to see. 63% of the client’s traffic since the website went live in April has been organic traffic, or traffic coming in from Google. Additionally, the most visited page on the website is the ‘handyman’ page, demonstrating that the service page is being found by the people who need it, as intended.
From this, we can surmise that the client has also seen an increase in phone calls and customers booking jobs.
