Where did we start?
The client is a compensation lawyer based on the Gold Coast. They had a website that had been previously optimised in their SEO campaign and as part of our strategy, we were moving into expanding the emphasis on their services. As part of this, the client asked if it would be possible to create an online calculator for personal injury claim payments.
This is a popular enquiry for them with many of their clients and potential clients wanting to know how much compensation they could receive as a result of an injury. Injuries could be in a motor vehicle accident, workplace incident or personal injury such as a fall in a public space. Types of injury include physical and mental health injuries.
What was our strategy?
We undertook the task to create the calculator. It took lots of correspondence with the client to gain valuable insights into how these types of estimates are calculated and to gain the right payout information to include in the calculator. This included the type of injury sustained, severity of the injury and if it affects their working capacity.
Severity, in this sense, is a factor in determining the claim amount based on a level of minor, moderate and severe.
There was no one plugin that would calculate the compensation effectively, so our in-house developers had to create and code the calculator from scratch. In total, the calculator took three months to create, and there was a bit of back and forth between the developer and the client to ensure the figures and operation was correct.
The calculator was later installed on the website on a page with a unique URL, meaning that its usage could be tracked for the client.
Where is this client now?
Potential clients use the calculator regularly to obtain an estimate for a compensation claim payment. Potential clients typically then speak with a lawyer to establish a case to present to the court and acquire the compensation payout.
This has become a popular tool on the Main Lawyers website and has provided the firm with new clients. Since it was installed in December 2019, the calculator has become the third-highest used page on the website, with over 200 hits since it was created. Tracking shows that users are spending 3.5 minutes on the page, meaning that there is clear engagement with the calculator, and 13 goals were completed on this page, which are actions such as booking online or calling via click-to-call.
