About Rivermead Estate
Rivermead Estate is a luxury, heritage-style homestead and property, deep in the Gold Coast’s agriculture and sporting past. The house itself was built in 1990 to replace the former macadamia plantation home, renovating more recently into the beautiful homestead you see today. Located in Guanaba on the Gold Coast, it is the ideal location for a weekend escape, and in the past, corporate events. Its owners take great pride in their conservation efforts, nurturing the surrounding land, on-property creek, horse paddocks and woodlands so they can be enjoyed and shared with their visitors for generations to come.
The Project
When Rivermead Estate approached our team at Digital Surfer, they had an existing website that focused on a luxury look, but lacked the optimisation for search engines. As a result, they were being pushed down the search results, and booking numbers were far from their expectations. Their goal for us was to design and develop a website that was simple in design with luxury elegance and sophistication, with a little scrolling as possible, but was still optimised to provide a great customer experience and to appeal to Google, Bing and other search engines.
The owners of the property also wanted a clear focus on being a luxury accommodation location on the Gold Coast, over their high-end corporate event offerings. With some external directories listing them as an event venue, it would be important the website was able to rank above these sites to be the first and only source of information for prospective bookers.
Our Website Rebuild Strategy
Like all of our website builds, our website designers, developers, content specialists and search engine optimisation experts started with the data. They looked at where the website was currently ranking and where their audience were coming from, and where they really wanted to be positioned. This gave us the backbone for the content, including pages, headings and more.
With the estate’s stunning photography, we wanted to ensure this was made front and centre in the design. It was also important the content was laid out in a way that would minimise the need for scrolling, while maintaining a simplistic look and good SEO best practices. As a result, we were able to balance the luxury, high-end feel of the website with the technical aspects needed to ensure Google favoured the site.

Since launching the website in late 2024, the website has seen improvements in rankings and website traffic. The big win for our website team was the reduction in event enquiries, and increase in accommodation bookings. This was the primary goal to ensure the conversions the business received were the most valuable to their bottom line.
