About Plus One Vet

Plus One Vet comes from the concept that our pets are the plus ones in our lives. Owner, Dr. Leo Wong wanted to create a veterinary clinic that embraced this, showing the same affordable, quality care for pets as we do for ourselves and our families. This concept has proven to be very successful, with Dr. Wong opening a second location within 18 months of launching thanks to help from Digital Surfer.

Client Goals & Challenges

2022 – 2023

When Digital Surfer first started working with Plus One Vet in 2022, they were in the lead up to opening their first clinic. Their initial goal was to establish their brand visibility and awareness in the community in the month before their clinic opening to help create bookings for when the time came to open their doors. This was an ideal goal as it allowed time for a website to be built, as well as give their organic and paid campaigns time to start giving them results from day one.

Once they opened, the goal would shift to deepen this initial connection Plus One Vet had already established, aiming to increase their booking volume. With the level of success of the campaign for Plus One Vet, they were able to open a second location within 18 months of their initial opening.

2023 – 2024

Moving into 2024, the goal for Plus One Vet was further expand their reach to increase their bookings, especially for their second locations. Through our research we saw there was a market to capitalise on their bi-lingual staff, expanding their connection with English, Cantonese, Mandarin-Chinese and Taiwanese Hokkien-speaking locals. We would also expand their reach across more suburbs.

2022 – 2023

As Plus One Vet was a new business in 2022, our strategy would start with a website build, followed by a comprehensive search engine optimisation and Google Ads strategy. Before starting the build, we heavily researched the right areas, search terms and competitors of the business to ensure the site was very specific in its targeting from day one.

While the build was in progress, we launched the business’s Google Business Profile to promote visibility on Google without a website. Once the website was live, we commenced Google Ads, using our previous research to level up Plus One Vet’s online presence from day one.

As their campaigns progressed, we utilised their data to ensure we were expanding their strategies in the exact locations and for the search terms most profitable to the business. This would be key in their success that enabled them to open their second location and prevent wasting time on locations and demographics that did not show potential.

2023 – 2024

Going into 2024, it was time to take Plus One Vet’s SEO and Google Ads strategies to the next level. With such a good result from the first year or so of the campaigns, we would start to really niche down, targeting both the ideal audience in surrounding suburbs. This would be so successful, Dr. Leo, owner of Plus One Vet, would receive complaints and requests from his competitors to take down his pages due to ranking so highly (and above them) in their suburbs.

2022 – 2023 Results

Since opening, Plus One Vet has had a steady increase in results each and every month. Some of their key results include:

  • Page one rankings for seven location-specific pages, solidifying their presence and visibility in key target areas.
  • A 199% increase in calls via Google Business Profile, soaring from 118 calls in June 2022 to 259 calls in August 2023, demonstrating the effectiveness of localised targeting.
  • 59% increase in overall website traffic, spiking from 944 in June 2022 to 1,504 in August 2023. 
  • 161% increase in organic traffic, increasing from 274 in June 2022 to 715 in August 2023, largely attributed to the location-specific pages and content.

These results directly influenced Plus One Vet’s ability to open up a second clinic in Nundah within 18 months of opening their first location, and hire an additional 5 vets since then. Overall, Plus One Vet has cemented itself as a leader in the veterinary market in Brisbane, with an adapting campaign that allows them to level up each month and to grow their goals.

2023 – 2024

Plus One Vet would see continued significant growth into and throughout 2024, including:

– 151% increase in organic traffic (year-on-year).
– 75% increase in calls through their Google Business Profile.
– 42% increase in conversions, averaging at 400 leads a month.

This growth resulted in a minimum return on investment of 378% return on investment for the business.
