About Plus One Vet
Plus One Vet comes from the concept that our pets are the plus ones in our lives. Owner, Dr. Leo Wong wanted to create a veterinary clinic that embraced this, showing the same affordable, quality care for pets as we do for ourselves and our families. This concept has proven to be very successful, with Dr. Wong opening a second location within 18 months of launching thanks to help from Digital Surfer.
Client Goals & Challenges
The Initial Goal
When Digital Surfer first met Plus One Vet, they were in the lead up to opening their first veterinary clinic in Coopers Plains, Brisbane. The goal was to begin to establish their brand visibility and awareness in the community several months before the clinic opened to already have bookings when the time to open the doors came. This was an ideal goal as this allowed for time to build a website, and give their organic and paid campaigns time to start giving them results from day one, but also to help them build their footing in the community.
Ongoing Goals
After the launch of the business, our goal was to deepen the community connection Plus One Vet had already established, aiming to increase their booking volume. This would prove highly successful, allowing Plus One Vet to open up a second location in Nundah within 18 months of their initial opening, utilising a similar goal and strategy to repeat their success.
The Initial Strategy
The first step in Plus One Vet’s strategy was to build their website. This would be the cornerstone of their other marketing, pointing people back to more information and where they can book. It was crucial the website was heavily researched for ideal keywords, content and competitor research to ensure it was ready to find its place in the search engine results from day one of its launch.
At the same time, we created the business’s Google Business Profile, which allowed us to implement an optimised posting strategy to promote local visibility on Google. This initial keyword research for the website and Google Business Profile would also be integral in the first stages of our search engine optimisation and Google Ads campaign.
Our Google Ads strategy was slightly different, targeting specific demographics of customers and their highest searched terms to promote specific services and occupy multiple spots on Google search results pages. We also implemented a remarketing campaign to target customers who had visited their website previously, but not taken action to increase their overall conversions and bookings.
Ongoing Strategy
Analytics and local connection is at the core of Plus One Vet’s ongoing strategy. We utilised the results from their initial campaign to further optimise where we should focus our attention and what to target. For example, we found a high response rate from the Asian community within a 10 to 15-minute drive of the clinic. With this information, we could steer Plus One Vet on a culturally sensitive approach to optimising their website, targeting this audience and fostering stronger connections within these communities.
One way we did this was by building out location-specific pages on the business’s website, catering to their diverse demographics and the vast geography of Brisbane. This allows us to quickly build connections with very specific locations and demographics, with specific, optimised content aimed to serve the reader. Another example of how we did this was by adding step-by-step directions to the clinic, making it as convenient as possible for people in that location to find their new vet clinic.
Our Strategy & Direction
Campaign Results
The Results
Since opening, Plus One Vet has had a steady increase in results each and every month. Some of their key results include:
- Page one rankings for seven location-specific pages, solidifying their presence and visibility in key target areas.
- A 199% increase in calls via Google Business Profile, soaring from 118 calls in June 2022 to 259 calls in August 2023, demonstrating the effectiveness of localised targeting.
- 59% increase in overall website traffic, spiking from 944 in June 2022 to 1,504 in August 2023.
- 161% increase in organic traffic, increasing from 274 in June 2022 to 715 in August 2023, largely attributed to the location-specific pages and content.
These results directly influenced Plus One Vet’s ability to open up a second clinic in Nundah within 18 months of opening their first location. Overall, Plus One Vet has cemented itself as a leader in the veterinary market in Brisbane, with an adapting campaign that allows them to level up each month and to grow their goals.
